Guest Reviews

We spent some wonderful days at your guesthouse, by far the best we have had the pleasure to stay on our holidays in South Africa. Your exceptional hospitality, your delicious breakfasts, the best furnished rooms made for us an unforgettable experience. On top of that, Annetjie has surprised Monica with these wonderful table-runners which now decorate our dining-table. Many thanks.

Just to say thank you for our very wonderful stay at Mes Amis last week. My guests were enthralled by the setting and the views; the rooms were beautifully done out, breakfast was delicious and, most of all, 5 stars go to you for your extremely personal service! We truly loved everything about your guest house (one night was not long enough) and I will certainly recommend you to other Garden Route travellers and come again myself, given half a chance!

My partner Colin and I had the wonderful experience of spending 8 days at Mes Amis. The room overlooked a super sea view and the room was bright, airy and big with lovely linen and a big bathroom. The room included a bar fridge that was always well stocked. The service and the breakfast was excellent. I really enjoyed the morning breakfast menu which also included quirky quotes, temperatures and times of the tides. I would definitely recommend Mes Amis to anyone. Having such close proximity to the beach where you had a staircase down to the beach was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the long walks on the beach. Thanks to Gerhard and his wife for making our stay such a pleasant experience.

Oh my word how refreshing. My partner Paul and I travel rather a lot and have stayed in some good places, but Mes Amis takes the cake. How lovely to be greeted by such happy friendly people and the rooms were spacious, clean and modern and fresh. The bed was like a big fluffy cloud that you could just float away on all the while watching the ocean roll back and forth. The breakfast was fabulous - refreshing in that it was not bacon, eggs and sausage everyday... and the Scotsman, oats, cream, honey and whiskey was oh so delicious. The views well totally awsome - Perfect end to a perfect holiday on the Garden Route. What a place Gerhardt and Annetjie have - we will see you again in our travels. Thank you so much guys.

Mes Amis is a 7 Star establishment. Myself and the wife have paid Mes Amis four viits the past four years. On our first visit it was just by chance that I enquired if they have a room for the night. Gerhard Groenewald made a plan at the back of his B & B. He noticed that we had a long day behind us and within 20 minutes after arrival he arrived with a tray containing a freshly baked bread and sliced biltong "with the compliments of the management". Gerhard Groenewald has the benefit of long sevicing personnel. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean with sea views to die for. All rooms have a well stocked mini bar as well as a peculator for those of us hooked on coffee.Breakfast is also something else.-Refer attached menu. You are greeted in 8 languages, excellent service, friendly kitchen personnel and food prepared like only a 7 star establishment would.Mes Amis is in my opinion an establishment you can recommend to all your friends. Gerhard thank you once again for a wonderful stay.

We felt we had to write to express our pleasure at staying with you 2 weeks ago in Wilderness. A fantastic location and every day a joy starting with 'Chef's Choice'! Sometime later the same day that we had left your guest house I mentioned to Eve, as we were driving along, that I really should get the car cleaned after many miles of dirt roads prior to arriving in Wilderness. However, when we stopped I was pleasantly surprised to find that the car had already been cleaned. I can only assume that one of your staff had done it for which we were very grateful and pleased that we had already left a suitable note in the Staff Fund tin in your reception.Hopefully we will return one day and you will still be running Mes Amis. Certainly we will be recommending you to all our friends.

This was probably one of the best places we have ever stayed! Rooms are beautiful and clean, and opening the french doors let in the beautiful sound of the ocean which was calming and relaxing. The beach is down a set of steps but is totally worth the climb as it is a long flat stretch - perfect for sunsets. The host is friendly and helpful, offering a truthful view of local restaurants and amenities which was refreshing, as we had a truly wonderful stay in Wilderness. We loved it here! :-)

My friends, this place is for you. If anything, the description provided is understated. Of the five places we stayed, this was our favorite. The bed was plush, and especially for a B&B you really had your privacy. The view from your room or patio is stunning--a beautiful beach--you do have to walk down a well maintained boardwalk/steps. Gerhard greets you for breakfast (your own table with a menu of the items provided--usually two types of rolls, yogurt, muesli, juices to choose from, and then the breakfast entree's to choose from. The mini-bar items were very reasonable priced. This was a great place to relax, and our host made us feel very welcome. He obviously enjoys the local cuisine, and tipped us onto (and made reservations) a couple of unique, delightful establishments.

This was our second choice hotel along the garden route, but turned out to be our favourite. The views from the private terraces were stunning, the room was as described, the host was very helpful and informative, and so much thought put into his guest enjoying their stay. The breakfast was outstanding with so much thought put into a changing daily menu An closing we also have to say how much we enjojed meeting the African staff who were so helpful and such fun. A real african experiece we would recommend.
